If you are considering purchasing a CBD vape oil, ensure you are purchasing your product from a reliable and reputable vendor. Since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t regulate the CBD industry as of now, there have been instances of deceptions on packaging and labeling. Read reviews and do your own research before purchasing your vape oil.
Some research focuses specifically on CBD (cannabidiol), which is the nonpsychoactive element of cannabis, and other research focuses on medical cannabis, with various ratios of CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD is a nonpsychoactive cannabinoid, and THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD hemp oil for face is a phytocannabinoid derived from the cannabis and hemp plant.
A 2017 study of CBD and its impact on Alzheimer’s Disease produced notable findings that suggest CBD may even improve memory. The Australian study tested mice aged 2.5 months old for eight months to study the long-term results and effects of CBD.
Our body naturally produces chemicals known as endocannabinoids that are part of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This controls many physiological processes such as inflammation, immunity, appetite and in this case pain.
CBD is also an agonist of the 5-HT1a serotonin receptor.[xi] So the combination of increasing anandamide and serotonin activity likely provides the anti-anxiety and antidepressant effects of CBD. But we’ll dig into more detail on how CBD works in the brain in the next section. The other main endocannabinoid is 2-AG (2-Arachidonoylglycerol) which is also produced in your body, and CBD which you get from cannabis. In fact, clinical studies and reports by ordinary neurohackers show that CBD can help prevent the psychotic-like effects induced by high doses of THC. CBD was first isolated in pure form in 1940 simultaneously from American hemp[vi], and from Egyptian hashish[vii].
THC is the substance in marijuana that gets you high — and therefore it is the substance responsible for placing marijuana in a category with other drugs. Around this same time, more evidence was produced in the form of a review of CBD, its safety and the side effects originating from it.
CBD oil has been established as a potential treatment option for people who have a variety of cognitive impairments. However, because the field of research so new, more studies on how CBD affects memory in a healthy brain are still needed. One study showed CBD could reduce social anxiety in a way comparable to ipsapirone and diazepam (valium). A 2012 double-blind, randomized clinical trial looked at the benefits of CBD for psychosis. In this study, 40 volunteer patients were given CBD or an antipsychotic.
In fact, CBD has been shown to counteract the “high” effect that THC creates. The chemical compound, naturally occurring in cannabis plants, doesn’t get you high, but does have a wide swath of other purported effects making it very popular. Although clinical studies haven’t necessarily proven those results, many Americans are testing CBD (which stands for “cannabidiol”) for themselves.
So not only are you getting a higher dose of your prescription, that altered dose may be making you nauseous. The problem with CBD, in particular, is that it’s hard to know exactly what the appropriate dose is for you (more on that in a moment). It’s also worth noting that cannabis with a higher CBD-to-THC ratio were used, and researchers found lower anxiety levels in THC-induced anxiety (a common side effect of THC) when administered together as opposed to using CBD alone. More human trials are needed, but as you can see, CBD study results are very bright indeed.
